Two multi-floor buildings designed for Class A office space with retail space as well are on the way to the MidCity development in Huntsville, AL.com has learned.
Also in plans are multiple office buildings that will also have ground-floor retail and restaurants.
Altogether, MidCity developer RCP Companies said more than 350,000 square feet of top-flight office space is planned for the development at the site of the former Madison Square Mall.
Adding the “work” element to the live-work-play development, MidCity has already seen entertainment venues such as Dave & Busters, Topgolf and High Point Climbing & Fitness open at what’s still a construction site with oases of businesses sprinkled in.
RCP said MidCity was recently cited as one of the 12 largest commercial real estate projects in the country. REI Co-op, specializing in outdoor gear, is scheduled to open later this month and construction is underway on a Wahlburger’s restaurant.
RCP said two 60,000 square foot buildings – with 45,000 square feet of office space on the top three floors and 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor – is planned to be built in the city of the development next to a 300-unit multi-family residential block. The first of those buildings is scheduled to open by the end of 2020.
In addition, multiple 100,000 square feet of office buildings are in the design process on the east side of the district with co-working and tech accelerator space. Restaurants and retail space are also planned for the ground floor of those buildings.
“We’ve had a great amount of interest so far, especially from companies that are looking for branding opportunities in order to retain their young talent and recruit the next generation workforce – the ones that want a better workplace experience which leads to better business performance,” RCP Companies said in a statement.
